A month-by-month plan for the Munsiff–Magistrate examination that balances the bare Acts, answer writing and revision without burning out.
Most aspirants underestimate how long the substantive law takes to internalise and overestimate how much they can revise in the final weeks. A realistic timeline fixes both problems.
Months 1–3: build the foundation
Read the bare Acts alongside a standard commentary and make your own short notes. Do not skip the procedure codes — the CPC and the new criminal codes reward steady, early reading.
- Constitution, CPC and the Contract Act
- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita
- Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam — proof and admissibility
Months 4–5: answer writing
Start weekly full-length answer writing. The single biggest differentiator in the mains is structure: issue, rule, application, conclusion. Get feedback on every script.
Month 6: revision and viva
Revise from your own notes, not new material. Practise mock interviews and stay current with recent High Court and Supreme Court judgments.
